Here are the two kinds of information’s officers can rely on to satisfy the probable cause to arrest requirements.

Direct information- This is called first hand information. The officer can arrest on the basis of whatever they are hearing, listening, tasting, smelling etc.

Hearsay- These are the second hand information coming from witnesses, police officers, victims or professional informants.
