As you know positive charge attracts negative charge and repels positive charge . means the free electrons in the sphere move towards the rod. the positive charge will flow to the ground while the negative charges at the near end will remain held there due to attraction force . the ground connection is removed and after that the rod is removed

The sphere is now negatively charged. (A).
