Textbook: Is It Necessary to Reduce Carbon Emissions to Fight Global Warming?

In the YES selection, D. J. Wuebbles et al. argue that, particularly given the tendency of climate models to underestimate the effects of carbon emissions (from large-scale combustion of fossil fuels and from deforestation), avoiding dangerous warming of the climate will require reducing net global CO2 emissions

In the No selection, Kevin D. Dayaratna, Nicholas D. Loris, and David W. Kreutzer argue that trying to meet the requirements of the 20 15 Paris Agreement by restricting the use of fossil fuels would hmm several sectors of the U.S. economy with little ifai1y benefit to the environment. By 2035, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would lose $2.5 trillion, consumer electric bills would go up by 13 percent, and family income would lose $20,000.

Carbon dioxide and other heat trapping gases are the main causes of global warming....climate change can be slowed down but can never be stopped...to avoid the worst consequences of climatd change we will need to cut down carbon emission to "net zero" by 2050 or before that.....we, here, net zero means, on balance, no morr carbon is dumped in to the atmosphere then is taken out......to acheive a net zero emission we need a massive transformation in hoe we consume and produce electricity.....we need a newer and better transportation system..Deforestation should be stopped....we also need a climate friendlt abricultural system....the scale of these changes will require a significiant federal policy that puts a price on carbon.....It also requires international cooperation : The Paris agreement, signed in 2016, reflects the worlds best effort to solve climate change so far, but it does not include the carbon dioxide emission reduction we need...No matter how quickly we reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the reality is that certain climate impacts are inevitable....The seas are rising...Temperature break records every year....Cutting carbon is the only long term solution we can get...the short tem is to adapt....That means everything from discouraging development in high-risk areas, to planning for water scarcity, to building more resilient cities and communities. Investment should be scientifically sound and aociallyy just, and focused where the impacts are greatest- often in low income communities and communities of color.

So we must say that, Yes reduction of carbon emission should be the first efficient and most requirrd step to be implemented and cannot be ignore because of the downfall of economy.
