Answer #1

Answer

C) No pH

Explanation

pH = - log[H+]

when a salt is dissolved in water one of the following should happen

i) The salt is partly hydrolysed by water and the solution become basic ,thus the pH solution is high.Salts which are the product of the reaction between weak acid and strong base give this type of solution.Example is sodium acetate

CH3COO- + H2O --------> CH3COOH + OH-

ii) The salt is partly dissociated in water and the solution become slightly acidic , thus the pH of the solution is low. Salts which are the products of the reaction between weak base and strong acid give this type of solution.Example is ammonium chloride.

NH4+ + H2O <-------> NH3 + H3O+

iii) The salt is not disturb water, so ,the solution become is neutral and the pH is 7.Salts which are the product of the reaction between strong acid and strong base. Example is sodium chloride
