EASY QUESTION! Williamson ether synthesis lab question. meta-cresol+chloroacetic acid with KOH as a base. I found my unknown compound which was meta cresol by comparing the MP, but I cannot find the correct MP for meta cresol. I was told the MP for meta cresol is around 100 degrees C, and I was trying to look up a more accurate value then just "around 100 C" but every source I'm finding says the MP is 10-11 C. If the MP is not near 100C, then my MP range is way off because my range was 102-103. Please give me a link to a source saying the correct MP? Also, what are the MP for ortho and para cresol? I also couldnt find the correct value for these. I know cresol has MP ranging from 191-203, but that is far off from my range.
