The application servers are a type of system software which can be installed and configured upon web-based applications or desktop-based applications. This Application servers consist of a web server connectors, different programming languages like JAVA,they also include run-time libraries which make our application better, mainly they consist of database connectors and web host for connecting the webpage and database. This server mostly runs behind or with the help of various web servers like Apache for the database they use like Oracle These Application servers are mostly written in Java language

PROS

1)The main advantage of using Application server is it provides data and code integrity which can be achieved using a centralized approach to the applications

2)This Application server increases the performance of our application by limiting or reducing the traffic of the network

3)The next advantage is it increases the security of our application

4)The above advantages lead to the very important advantage that is a reduction in Total Cost of ownership

CONS

1)If we want to set up an application server we want to invest more money that means application server is costly

2)Due to some avoidable situation application server goes down then the clients of the application which uses application server cannot be accessible by any clients

3)Some times there is a chance of Network delay in the application server
