A new model of surveillance camera has probability 0.431 that it needs to be reset in less than 30 days. Suppose we have 10 of these new cameras, all put in usage on the same day and working independently of each other.

Use Matlab to find (to three decimal places) the probability that at least 5 of them will have to be reset in less than 30 days.

(3.) You are selling a particular model of used cellphone. Customers are hesitant to buy this model because it is known to sometimes have problems with the battery and sometimes with the CPU. Let's measure time in days and suppose that, given the phone is currently working, the probability of the battery failing the next day is 1/3 Likewise, the probability of the CPU failing the next day is 1/6 (and with probability 1/2 the phone continues to function properly)....

Security Manufacturing, Inc. is a producer of surveillance systems. Its current line of surveillance systems are selling excellently. However, in order to cope with the foreseeable competition from other similar products, SM spent $6,400,000 to develop a new line of HD surveillance systems (new model development cost). The comprehensive 1440p HD surveillance system model can be used very well for any small home or business. As a result of the advanced HD analog technology made up of a 4-channel 4K...

Suppose that in West Campus in September of 2019, out of 12 accidents that resulted in trips to Health Services or the emergency room, 4 happened on Friday the 13th. Is this a good reason for my GF Liz, who is very superstitious, to worry that next Friday, December the 13th, 2019, I am particularly in danger in my dorm room in Rich Hall? Just for the sake of this problem, let's pretend that December has only 30 days, so...

It can be used to find collisions in a cryptographic hash function. Suppose that we have a hash function which, when supplied with a random input, returns one of 256 equally likely values. The attack generates n...

This is for my Probability and Statistic class, I need help with this probability problem. We just vaguely just learned conditional and unconditional rules. But I still don't get it. This is the question and sub-questions involved in the problem. (Given labeled in-class data tables). Conditional probabilities: a) Determine the conditional probability that A has visited the (randomly selected) state, given that B has visited it. Is this conditional probability greater than, less than, or the same as the (...
