(a) From the above table the calorific value at 0.88 RER is 4.9 Kcal per liter of oxygen.

therefore for 1.4 L of oxygen the energy expenditure in one minute = 1.4 x 4.9 Kcal

= 6.86 Kcal

(b) From the table:

at 0.88 RER, FAT = 40.8 % calorific value coming from FAT

and Carbohydrate = 59.2 % calorific value coming from Carbohydrate.
