Organization system refers to an arrangement where every stakeholder in the organization or associated with organization is interconnected. Unlike previous organizations where functions worked as discrete units in an organization ecosystem, the information flow is not unidirectional but rather gets shared with everyone so that every network has updated system regarding the flow of goods/services.

Organizations are moving beyond age old silos of functions which were also called as island of information. They are now converting themselves into richly networked ecosystems called as organizational ecosystem. This gives a way to organizations to disrupt and reinvent themselves through innovation and beat the incumbency factor to drive better results.

Organization ecosystem is about attracting resources of all sorts to gain momentum and exponential rewards. Great business don’t evolve in vaccum. They need ecosystem to support the growth. Alone a business cannot sustain without the help of its ecosystem be it suppliers, contractors etc.

In an organization ecosystem, its not just the parent organization which evolves but also the partners in the ecosystem which evolves as well. Co innovation and development is one of the key principles of organization ecosystem. Toyota did it wonderfully with its kan ban system where it not only became efficient but shared the system with its suppliers to let them grow and develop as well.
