Why has play as an instructional strategy provided to young learners diminished in recent years? What social, behavioral, or academic issues have arisen because of the loss of play in classrooms, schools, and other early childhood learning environments?

This is because of the changing educational system in the country due to various factors such as competition, need for improved academics as per various standards, increase in the requirement of subjects and skill by various organizations in future and so on. This has changed the instructional pattern and strategy in the school over the years which increased emphasis on academics rather than their interest and co curricular activities. This has reduced social interaction and development of creativity by the use of spoon fed knowledge. The behavioral issues have increased in a way that they find it hard to cope up with the increase in stress due to a rigid system of academics. Academic issues what channel have arisen because of the loss of play includes the loss of flexibility in decision making and imposed regimes on the children which has limited emphasis on play and other activities.
