Please help with this question!

#1. The volume in a flask occupied by the stopper was not counted when measuring the volume of the flask, how would this affect the molar mass of the unknown vapor? Then, if twice the volume of volatile liquid was placed in the flask when starting the experiment, what would be the effect on the molar mass? Finally, if the unknown vapor had a boiling point of 130°C, would the experiment be efficient?

1) According to the ideal gas equation, we have:

MM = m * R * T / P * V

If the volume of the plug is not counted when the experiment was carried out, this volume will be counted as part of the gas, so at higher volume of the gas, the molar weight decreases, as we see in the equation.

2) If double the volume is used, because the pressure of the system would increase, which would counteract the effect of the volume and the molar mass would not be affected.

3) For the experiment to be efficient, it must be that the temperature of the system is higher than that of the boiling point of the compound, otherwise the compound would be a liquid and the experiment would not be efficient.
