Answer #1

Yes. a country which has allowed a business to set shop on its soil, employ the local people and exploit the local resources for production of goods and services, holds right to regulate the business practices of the company if it finds that those practices are not in line with the country's law and regulations, its culture and violates the laid down norms by the society. It can also regulate the employment practices of the company if it finds them against the general local work culture. The government can do this even if the MNC does not employ many locals. It can also regulate the behaviour of the company towards its employees and initiate action if it does not conform to the local law. The local government, while allowing such companies to work on its shores, should lay down the code of conduct for them while in the country, thereby avoiding troubles for later. The country's governing system is morally responsible for ensuring that the locals as well as others are treated with respect, compassion, trust and fairness, and should make it obligatory for the companies having foreign origin.
