Virtue is basically a behaviour which shows the higher standard of moral values. The word Virtue has a Latin root, "vir". "Vir" means for man. It talks about a state of moral excellence. If we are generous then it means that we have virtuous quality.
If we are helping in nature then also it means that we have a virtuous nature. It inspires us to adopt a right attitude for each and every action. "ARETE" is basically a Greek word for virtue. It is beyond the scope of morality and it says that each and every action should be carried out with proficiency and a positive gesture.
If excellent performance is being performed then any task can be called as virtuous. In any virtuous action there remains elements of justice and prudence. Virtue is also defined by the characteristics of moderation. Being virtuous also demands being courageous in nature.
Virtue asks about the essential parameters of a good personality. It asks "what kind of person should I be?" It does not show concern about the question "what should I do?" Virtue talks about dedication. It also aims at full development of humanity.
If we are good by nature then we will definitely think about the good of others and the society. If each person start performing his action with positive attitude then this world will automatically become a better place to live.
