Before stating and defining the types of computer assisted coding,let me give you some idea about what is computer assisted coding and the answer is as follows:

Computer-assisted coding is one of the greatest advancements in medical coding field.It is kind of software that checks for health related documents and eventually produces codes related to a particular word sequence or arrangement which it gets.More importantly it helps the medical insurance companies which provides assistance help towards it customers by developing an application type which helps in efficient coding as well as for medical billing also.

Now the two types of this software is

• Structured input
• Natural language processing

Structured input type:

This method is not known to many,according to me due to some of it's disadvantages.These systems encourages the phsician to provide more information and data if required by providing them with a screen(typically a data entering one) which has some facilities such as templates,pull-down menus.It becomes necessary for a physician to enter the information because the data entered by them will be connected to codes,which are produced when they(physician) goes through all required fields.So there is no escape for a physician without entering the detailed data required.This requires too much of patience from physician point because they have to enter the most accurate information if that doesn't happens,then the code is not generated properly which disturbs the entire system.Hence the name structured input.

Natural language processing(NLP):

This type is well known due to it's much advantages.this system does not causes physicians to change their behaviour,instead to the more benefit they doesn't know CAC exists.As the technology has become advanced and has introduced us with artificial intelligence,NLP copies or mimics the way that people read using AI.Apperently it scans the documents converting them into codes.Here as usual the doctor/physician will dictate and the report is being sent to NLP engine which works on it and produces desired codes.The coder then checks the code and sents it to billing.

Impact on production of coding:

CAC will change and introduce a new way to the coders who work on daily basis.Importantly the coders will be highly responsible for validating the code since they are the ones who checks for errors and accordingly update it.irrespective of which of the 2 above mentioned sytem being used.

Internet,Intranet and Extranet in health care:

With the technology being advanced in health care and medical field,internet ahs been the major contribution towards it in every possible ways including it helps the doctors connect to the resources and also interact with each other through social media platforms also,online hospital websites and also personalized doctor's blog or websites which makes convenient for the patient to seek the help to the disease online sitting at home,also the pharmaceautical companies take advantages of internet

An intranet represents the use of internet tools within an institution.It can be defined as set of tools designed for interaction between different organizations,only for private use of that organization including healthcare for example-operating a healthcare delivery system under the owning of single or set of institutions.

since internet creates a portal for hospital on a global level,an extranet portal gives access to external users to any healthcare intranet.It is useful in away for the users outside of hospital,you can set up a sub-site which can completely be beneficial for the external users and redirecting them to login to extranet portal.this way it helps the healthcare
