1. Vicki Smith enjoys working at XYZ Corp. All the bosses and other employees are her friends. Everybody is so polite, and confrontation is frowned upon. When she was ill, everyone covered for her. She doesn’t have to worry about being criticized, even if her performance is off a little now and then. Better yet, she doesn’t feel pressured to show initiative and figure out new ways to do things. Everybody knows what to do.
4. Heather Huezo is really excited about her new job. She is young, but knows that she will be promoted if she is productive and responsive to the marketplace. She has been looking a long time for a place where people are rewarded based on performance not on seniority. Heather has always enjoyed being the winner; she is certain that will be the case now.

1. As being stated from the sentence, Vicki Smith works in a very good Company where her colleagues including bosses are her friends. The work environment is also good since everybody is polite and confrontation is frowned upon. Who doesn't like to work in such a place where people are supporting you and covering you when you are on leave and you have called off sick. But the question comes here is of performance. Even though everything works fine in the organization, a person always likes to grow and move further in his/her life and performance plays a vital role in this. If you are performing well, based on that you will be promoted and would be rewarded accordingly. I can not work in such a place where I am not being pushed to do good work every day. So for those reasons, I would not like to work in such a company.
2. Coming to the second scenario. Heather's new to her job. In her company, employees are being promoted based on their performance and how productive and responsive they are to their marketplace. Now, this sounds like a fair deal and every employee should look forward to working in such a company where their seniors are looking at their performance and are being rewarded on the same. I would always want to work for such a company.
