Answer

When we mix the neutral compound dissolved in an organic solvent with aqueous base, a proton might be transferred from the water to the base but not to the organic solvent because base reacts with water and protonation occurs. Since a neutral compound is non polar in nature, so it will be more likely to remain in organic solvent than in aqueous solvent as it is polar in nature because of the fact that like dissolve like.
