Discuss the stereotypes associated with older persons, including
driving, personality, thinking, and other behaviors. Are these
stereotypes accurate? Think about your parents or grandparents or
some other person close who is in the older adulthood stage of
life. How has that person handled growing older? Would this person
be a good role model for how to age gracefully, or would you wish
to age in a much different way from how this individual aged? Which
behaviors related to aging would you want to copy from the older
person? Which behaviors would you hope to avoid?
Some of the stereotypes related to the older person are
Driving: Old people cannot drive properly like younger ones.
Personality: Old people become childish in nature. They lose temper easily.
Thinking: They think like a child and act them.
Some of these stereotypes are accurate. For example: According to psychology, childish behaviour is a sign of old age. I have my grandmother at home who is 70 years old by now. She has handled old age very beautifully. She stills enjoys every moment of her life by hanging out with her group of friends. She still loves to travel and accompanies us to our friends and relative's place. She is definitely my role model when I become old. Her best quality that I would like to copy from her is her positivity toward life and energy even at this age. One thing that I want to avoid is her habit of drinking alcohol.

Tens Tips for changing health behaviors After years of working with health science students to help older adults change health behaviors, it would be wonderful if I could offer the reader a simple formula for increasing the probability of success. There are many factors that can influence the success or failure of an individual’s attempt to change a health behavior,...
