Trying to adapt the local culture and habits is not a bad habit but going over board and trying to do what we cannot is a bad habit. Any organisation must try to be neutral to local cultures and encourage all of it's employees to follow a single work culture so that no one will feel like an outsider. For example an American working in some foreign country just need to adapt to the work conditions but they need not change their eating habits or dressing or way of communicating . Hence going native is healthy only upto certain extent.
