A crisis for Walmart’s disabled workers, and a PR crisis for the retail giant.
Provide a concrete action plan for short- and long-term implementation of your solutions.
For the short term Walmart should provide immediate alternative role to the disabled workers who are affected by the change in their job profile and their responsibilities. The short term action plan will be that Walmart should provide counseling to all affected employees and these employees should be given proper alternatives by Walmart so that their earnings are not affected.
In the long-term Walmart should develop a comprehensive job profile for all disabled employees and considering their physical limitations a policy should be put in place which will ensure that all disabled employees are provided with a sense of continuity with regards to their role and position in the organization. If roles need to be changed then there should not be significant change or drastic change from the previous role. In other words in the long run proper job profiles and job responsibilities should be developed and the company should have a policy in place in which it will be ensured that there will be no drastic change with regards to the same. Regular or needed changes should be allowed provided that they do not hinder performance or cause physical difficulties for the disabled employees at Walmart.
