Explain the point being made in the following passages and how
they are related to the teleological argument (are these ideas
contrary or supportive of the argument? What reasoning are they
using?):
(a) “Now if we survey the universe, so far as it falls under our
knowledge, it bears a great resemblance to an animal or organized
body, and seems actuated with a like principle of life and motion.
….each part and member, in performing its proper offices, operates
both to its own preservation and to that of the whole….the world,
therefore, I infer, is an animal, and the Deity is the soul of the
world, actuating it, and actuated by it….")(Hume on Analogy)
(b) “……it seems to bear a stronger resemblance to a vegetable than
to an animal, and your inference would be so far inconclusive in
favour of the soul of the world”.
The passage speaks about the life and about the God, like the writer clearly says that every person in this universe has a role and they are here to perform their duty. Like human live, die, go to office, spent time with family, Trees give fruits and vegetable, sun gives light, and many more things. Things are specified for everyone and this controlled by creator who is God.
According to atheist there is neither creator nor god. Atheists are firm believer that God is created by human to control them. Humans have made god so they can be controlled by some super natural power but in reality god is not present. But writer speaks about soul, and that soul which controls everything is god.
