Given that ,

mean = = 100

standard deviation = = 15

The z - distribution of the 88 % is,

P( Z < z ) = 88%

P( Z < z ) = 0.88

P( Z < 1.175 ) = 0.88

z = 1.175

Using z - score formula,

X = z * +

= 1.175 * 15 + 100

= 117.63

88th percentile is 117.63
