When parents discipline children by removing a child from an ongoing activity, they are engaging in time-out parenting.

Timeout parenting is a very effective tool to teach kids the difference between acceptable and non-acceptable behaviour. In this way, you take your child away from the activities and attention they were in, and give them a time-out for unacceptable behaviour.
