Two people on a first date at a local restaurant, meeting each other for the first time after exchanging several emails. These two interactants know each other through mutual friends.
1) Determine the type of communication transpiring by identifying a) specific verbal / non-verbal confirming or disconfirming messages b realistic dialectical tensions among the interaction partners c) effective strategies for relational maintenance (for example -saving face, identification of toxic communication and cultural / gender barriers to communication.) Write down all the ideas.
2) Write a short dialogue between the hypothetical interactants and accounting for both verbal and non-verbal messages.
1) Previously they had a mail conversation but they did not met personally, with mail conversation we do not know what is the exact behavior of any individual so first both of them wanted to know each other in detailed for this they start conversation in verbal format like
hello
how are you doing
how was the day
what are your interests etc..
if they find both are in same tempo then they will start non verbal conversation, otherwise they will not
b) If two persons from different places meeting first time definitely there should be dialectical tensions will there because they do not know how the other person will accept them,in mail conversation we have standard language to communicate but when it comes to personal meeting there should be a difference in usage of words, way of thinking etc
c) If two persons meeting personally definitely they will come with their own strategies because already they have minimum judgement on other person the reason is already they have mail conversation,if other person will look good then only they want to reveal themselves otherwise they will not, gender barriers depends on the lifestyle they are leading right now, from which place they are and from which social dominance they have all these factors effect the way of communication both will have
2) For this we will imagine they are sitting in coffee shop and assumes both are opposite genders and consider character names as mike and rosy
mike: Hello rosy
rosy : hello mike
mike : how was the day
rosy : yeah ,its good, what about you
mike : its good ,, shall i order something for us
rosy : ok, its fine
mike : feel comfortable rosy, we already know each other right
rosy : yeah,but
mike : shall we share our ideas each other
rosy : that's fine we will start with you
mike : I loves long drive with beautiful girl like you, why don't we go for long drive after cup of coffee
rosy : yeah sure why not mike, I too love long drive on rainy time
like this, based on their interests conversations will go on...
I hope you got better understanding of this ...thank you..give thumps up if you like
