please create a new post telling us about your reaction to the practices of the Nacirema and the worldwide delicacies shown in the documentary. Are there any foods you would not eat and why? Is your view of these cultural delicacies ethnocentric?

The rituals associated with the body and the knowledge regarding the body of the culture of Nacirema is intriguing. From the daily body ritual performed by everyone which includes a mouth- rite to the underlying notion of the people regarding the natural body is quite perplexing. However, we should be able to acknowledge that each culture is unique in their own way. There are differential context and socialities through which such practices and cultures emerge. For the Nacireme it can be the highest form of their way to existence by which they see all these rituals having a significant place in their lives.

It is again quite surprising to see how the concept of food and taste changes and differs according to cultures. What we may like and what we eat may be completely alien to the people of other cultures. I am not sure whether I will like most of the food but I would certainly give it a try. I do not want to be a cultural ethnocentric, in the sense that I do not think my food or the food that I eat is superior and others under quality.
