A certain ionic compound X has a solubility in water of 2.79 g/l at 5 degress celcius . Calculate the mass of X that's dissolved in 500ml of a saturated solution of X in water at this temperature.

Solubility of compound X = 2.79 g/L

mass of solution = 500 mL

mass of solution = 500 mL * (1.00 L / 1000 mL)

mass of solution = 0.5 L

mass of X dissolved = (Solubility of compound X) * (mass of solution)

mass of X dissolved = (2.79 g/L) * (0.5 L)

mass of X dissolved = 1.395 g
