cell is the most basic structure of every organ & it is composed of three types of substances protein, lipid & carbohydrate, out of which lipid is around 40%. fluid mosaic model is the most widely accepted structural model for cell membrane according to which cell membrane is a bilayered lipid structure (Phosphilipid & cholesterol) & it is surrounded by peripheral & integrative protein.

Hydrophobic nature of cell membrane allows lipid soluble substance to pass easily like oxygen & carbon dioxide,and it prevents the easy passage of hydrophilic subtance.
