What type of income tax system does the USA use? Does it help bridge inequality between rich and poor? Why/Why not? (c) Comment on the current debate on raising the marginal tax rate to 70% as a means to reaching equality.

Ans. USA is having Progressive Income Tax system. This helps in bridging the inequality between rich and poor because The income tax rate increases as the increase in the income of the individual ie Taking high taxes from Rich people and low taxes from poor people.

C. Raising the marginal tax rate to 70% have it's own merits and demerits. Increasing it would increase the tax revenue and Government would be able to fund more projects whereas it can also lead to an increased tax evasion. So we have to see both ways and find a mid path.
