I had joined a publishing company one year ago. Though I had a qualification in literature, there were many practical aspects I was not aware of. We were three employees who were hired together. While two had a good experience and were able to deliver results, I was lagging behind. It was getting hard for me to give the result. Also, the work was piling up on me. Then one day my employer came forward. He asked me to join him for a coffee. He had already seen my resume and knew I had capabilities to give results. He asked me why I am lagging behind. I told him about my weak points like I am shy in asking help and I believe in delivering the content only when I know it is perfect. I told him everything. Then he had mentored me. He had taught me a few things. He had taught me that perfect is a myth, nothing and no one is perfect, just deliver what is expected of you. He had introduced me to all the colleagues and told them I had to be provided help whenever needed. He even himself kept visiting me asking me if I need help in anything, The mentorship helped me a lot. Recently I have begged a promotion, thanks to his guidance.
