Pain is an unpleasant feeling . It is managed by pharmacological and non -pharmacological methods . Pharmacological methods include medications like opioids ,NSAIDS ,etc . Non - pharmacological methods include the following :-

Nonpain imagery - Nonpain management method involves picturing a mental scene that is unrelated to or incompatible with feelings comfort . It uses imagination to picture a person ,place ,time that makes the patient feel relaxed , peaceful and happy . It uses all of your senses to decrease pain

Pain redefinition- is a pain management technique in which thoughts about pain that arouse a sense of threat are replaced with other thoughts that are more constructive or realistic and helps to reduce the pain which occur due to the threats.

Counter irritation - a technique whereby one pain is reduced by creating another one.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation- a counter irritation pain control technique that involves electrically stimulating an area near where the patient feels pain

Acupuncture- is a pain control technique in which fine metal needles are inserted under the skin at certain locations and then activated to reduce pain .
