The antibody would be unable to bind antigen.

Antibodies bind to a specific antigen and this interaction is similar to lock and key. The variable region of antibodies varies among different antibodies, is composed of 110-130 amino acids making them specific to a particular antigen. The circulating proteins (complement proteins) help to lyse bacteria, induce inflammation and participate in the removal of antibody/antigen complexes, they bind to the surface of the microorganisms. Basophils mediate allergic reaction, they produce IgE and binds to basophils and also mast cells. Both mast cells and basophils have receptors to bind to IgE, Fc region (constant region) of immunoglobulin E (IgE) becomes bound to mast cells and basophils. Fc is the tail region of the antibody which interacts with cell receptors.
