An analysis of behaviorism. What were the theoretical underpinnings of the movement? What were the primary tenets and concepts of the movement? Why were these tenets and concepts important? Who were the key theorists?
The important tenets of Behaviorism are that all the behaviors are governed by some rules, all the behaviors could be formed or changed using behaviorism, environment is important in the forming of behaviors and finally there are consequences for all the behaviors that would either strengthen or weaken or even make it extinct. I think the environment where one grows is very important because that would set the behavior on track and that any behavior could be learnt with proper reinforcers. Ian Pavlov with his Classical conditioning, James B. Watson and finally B.F. Skinner from Operant conditioning are the most important proponents of Behaviorism school.
