c. Are magnetic attractions the same as electrostatic attractions? Explain.

a) A magnet will not have any effect on the tape. The tape is stationary and static charge is not influenced by a magnet. Either the charge or the magnetic field must be in motion to have some kind of interaction between the two.

b) There is no special interaction between the tap and the magnetic poles.

c) They are not same but similar . Both the forces are inversely proportional to square of distance 1/d2 . We can have isolated +ve or -ve charges but not isolated magnetic poles. There are no magnetic mono poles either S or N.
