I'm using Java. I have an assignment where we make a program that checks for the solvability of a grid. It works the same way as an 8 tile puzzle however the size of the grid can differ. A grid is valid if every row has the same number of columns and every column has the same number of rows. My question is what would you write so that the program can know if the grid is valid?
A grid will be a 2D array having rows and columns, and to describe a grid to be valid one, we need to check that the 2D array or the grid should be a square matrix or we can say the number of columns in the grid should be equal to the number of rows, and when we compare them and they come out to be equal then we can conclude that the gird is valid because the rows would have same number of columns and the columns will have same number of rows.
if you like the answer please provide a thumbs up.

In this exercise, you need to implement a class that encapsulate
a Grid. A grid is a useful concept in creating board-game
applications. Later we will use this class to create a board game.
A grid is a two-dimensional matrix (see example below) with the
same number of rows and columns. You can create a grid of size 8,
for example, it’s an 8x8 grid. There are 64 cells in this grid. A
cell in the grid...
Write a JAVA program to solve a sudoku! Given a partially filled 9×9 2D array ‘grid[9][9]’, the goal is to assign digits (from 1 to 9) to the empty cells so that every row, column, and subgrid of size 3×3 contains exactly one instance of the digits from 1 to 9. I have posted 3 input files: sudoku1.txt, sudoku2.txt and sudoku3.txt Problem Analysis & Design - Think about how you will need to solve this problem. You should do an...
Write a program to place eight queens on an 8 x 8 chessboard in such a way that one queen is to be in each row. A program will use 2 DIMENIONAL array x[r][c] to do this configuration. If x[r] has value c, then in row r there is a queen in column c. Write a program that asks a user to enter the columns that contain queens in the 8 rows. The program then places the queens in these...
JAVA QUESTION!!! please help! The following codes are a Maze program. There are TWO traversable paths possible in this maze. The program uses recursion. Can someone please explain to me why the program will pick one path if multiple traversable paths are available? Why does the program choose one path over a different path? (I believe it has something to do with the recursion terminating when a solution is found but I'm not sure.) Thank you!!!! The codes: public class...
Write a Java program that calculates the sum of a variable sized matrix using a two dimensional array. (ArraySum.java) The user should provide the number of rows and columns Test multiple user inputs (3 times 2, 4 times 4, 6 times 2, etc) A sum should be created for each row, each column, and the total for the matrix Ex.: How big would you like your matrix? Rows - ? 3 Columns -? 2 Please enter your row 1? Column...
I am having trouble figuring out why my program will not make any columns, just rows. I need to display a square. The instructions are provided below. (This for my C++ class) Write a program that displays a square. Ask the user for the square’s size. Only accept positive integer numbers (meaning choose a data type that holds positive integer values). The size the user gives you will determine the length and width of the square. The program should then...

The Assignment For this assignment, we are asking you to implement Conway's Game of Life using a two-dimensional array as a grid in which to store the cells. Live cells are denoted as * characters, dead cells are denoted by the character. Input As input, you will be given a line containing the number of rows, number of columns, and number of generations to simulate in the form mng followed by m lines containing the...
Hello I am having trouble with a connectFour java program. this issue is in my findLocalWinner method, it declares a winner for horizontal wins, but not for vertical. if anyone can see what im doing wrong. public class ConnectFour { /** Number of columns on the board. */ public static final int COLUMNS = 7; /** Number of rows on the board. */ public static final int ROWS = 6; /** Character for computer player's pieces */ public static final...
Write a Java program which implements both the while and for loop, as needed, to draw the illustrations given below. Shape 1 123456789 12345678 1234567 123456 12345 1234 123 12 1 Shape 2 ************* ************* ************* ************* ************* Shape 3 ============ * * * * * * * * * * ============ Hint: To draw the shapes above, you can use nested for loops to accomplish the task. The outer for loop iterates on each row, and the inner for...
In this assignment, we will be making a program that reads in customers' information, and create a movie theatre seating with a number of rows and columns specified by a user. Then it will attempt to assign each customer to a seat in a movie theatre. 1. First, you need to add one additional constructor method into Customer.java file. Method Description of the Method public Customer (String customerInfo) Constructs a Customer object using the string containing customer's info. Use the...
