I have personally experienced the importance of databases at my workplace. Databases help in collecting and consolidating data. Also, data safety is ensured. In addition to this one can access the cloud-based data from anywhere, making it very convenient for users. The data doesn't remain an individual's property, instead becomes asset of the entire company. But, one has to be very careful about privacy of data and limiting the accessibility to those who can be trusted only.

For example according to date, customers, supplier, project-wise, etc. Also, there should be a level of access defined for all employees and ensure the data is safe.
