I would like to mention some ideas of V Rull here, he says that sometimes there is lack of conservation of resources and government do not focus conservation policies because sometimes the political sector is also attached with the rich economic growth causing companies which need exploitation of resources. Because of this, the gap between citizen requirements and actions done by their political representatives increase and they start ignoring conservation and environment.

Now, let's apply this idea in US prior to World war. At that time, we largely focused on economic growth as the world had recently seen industrialisation and we grew exponentially and discovered new things and new ways of trading and mainly started conquest in capitalism model of growth. All this caused exploitation of resources and conservation was ignored. Thus a democracy is where the political representatives chosen by most of the people in the country, work according to the will of those people but in reality, after getting chosen as a representatives, they also start thinking of economic growth which is unregulated that is undemocratic or we can say lead to unhealthy democracy. The protests, strikes etc around the world for environment is the manifestation of that.
