A short story, in my opinion, is the same as a novel or "chapter book". The pas is slightly faster. Main characters, plot, setting are all still a key factor in making a short story.

- I do agree with the statement.The most obvious difference between a novel and a short story is length.Other things like plot,characters,setting of the story all remain the same.It just becomes more concise and gritty since a short story's pace is faster than chapters in a novel.
- A short story is a dramatic narrative intended to be read in a single sitting and designed to produce a single effect in contrast to a long novel,which can be more deep than a story,since it has the advantage of length,so characters could be developed in more detail with layers.
