A scientist is trying to determine if a wave is mechanical or electromagnetic. After performing several experiments, She decides that it must be a mechanical wave because it traveled through a vacuum. Assess her conclusion and explain if you agree with her or not.
Her conclusion is wrong. I don't agree with her conclusion.
Mechanical waves require a medium to travel. Example sound wave. It has different speeds in different mediums but when a sound is produced in a vacuum, no one in its vicinity can detect it.
So if the wave here in question travels through vacuum it can not be mechanical wave.
