Answer #1

The top three motivators at the workplace

(a) Money is undoubtedly the best motivator for every employee. It is a direct, certain and instant means of motivating an employee. It is so because most of us work for money, and prospects of monetary reward automatically improves a person's motivation towards the work. It works better than most of the motivating factors, which may not be liked by the entire workforce, but monetary motivation is agreed upon by all.

(b) Recognition at the workplace is close second motivating factor in today's workplace where the economy is transforming into knowledge economy and highly specialised workers are the drivers of the organisation on the growth path. Organisations go an extra mile to attract, reward and retain the best talent in the market, and money is not the only motivator for such people, who give equal or sometimes more emphasis to the recognition of their efforts at the workplace. They need praises and accolades for their feats and it motivates them to work even harder and reach newer heights.

(c) Future prospects in the organisation is another motivating factor, which is again valued by the highly accomplished and high performing human resources. Every employee has a career plan for himself /herself, and he /she wants to make the most of the career. Organisations should prepare a well defined career progression plan for its employees to keep them motivated, engaged and performing. Lack of which might soon escalate the attrition rates.
