6) If you were to pick the best mixture of fuel and oxidizer to replace gasoline in an internal combustion engine what gases would you use and at what ratio? Please keep answers to common industrial chemicals as opposed to exotic NASA propellant materials. Liquid Oxygen, liquid Hydrogen, Hydrazine and Flourine would be unreasonable for our application

Answer #1

A number of liquid and gaseous fuel are among the potential fuel alternatives. A various number of properties like low heating value, boiling point , vapour flammability limits have to be considered before any of these could be used in place of gasoline. Most important among them are alcohols- ethanol and methanol , natural gas, liquified petroleum gas(LPG) , hydrogen ethers like di-methyl ether(DME), vegetable oil esters etc.

Among these alternatives natural gas(NG), producer gas and methane cand be used as fuel with air as the oxidizer to be used in IC engines.

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
