You are attempting to determine whether you are taller
or shorter than the average student currently enrolled in your
university. You have just learned about sampling and have decided
to sample students to determine the average height at your
university.
Required:
What are some advantages and disadvantages of using
sampling to answer this question as opposed to examining the entire
population?
Give some other examples of when you would be more
likely to use sampling (applied to this particular example) as
opposed to examining the entire population.
In what cases might you want to examine the entire
population?
Advantages and disadvantages of using sampling technique:
Advantages include saving in time required test the data and Non requirement to test the entire population
Disadvantages of sampling include choosing of sample size from the entire population so as to represent the entire set
Examples where sampling could be used as opposed to examining the entire population:
Sampling can be used where the data included in the population does not belong to extreme range and where the total population is large in numbers (i.e., huge amount of data to test).
Cases where entire population should be tested
In cases where the data of the population is belongs to the extreme range or where the amount of data is not really huge in numbers, entire population can be tested.

Students at SHSU have an average GPA of 2.78 with a standard deviation of 0.65. You have been tasked by the university president to select a random sample of students, and to conduct in-depth interviews with them about how their academics were impacted by COVID-19. We would like the random students that you select to be representative of the entire student body, and therefore the GPA of your sample should be within 0.1 grade points of the population mean. How...
Fly-By-Night University (FBNU) has several campuses and has recently decided to centralize their student records. The university’s main office needs to develop a new system to house student records and course information. You have been hired to make recommendations regarding the design of the new system. You have met with key personnel for the purposes of requirements gathering. You have analyzed the current system and the goal for the future system. These are the items you have determined: Faculty are...

In Java(using BlueJ) Purpose Purpose is to practice using file input and output, and array list of objects. Also, this lab specification tells you only what to do, you now have more responsibility to design how to do it. Problem description You are given a text file called 'Students.txt' that contains information on many students. Your program reads the file, creating many Student objects, all of which will be stored into an array list of Student objects, in the Students...
Questions for Exercise 34 Directions: For each of the following excerpts from journal articles, indicate whether the sample is biased or unbiased and explain your choice. In some cases, you may answer "not sure" because there is insufficient information to make a judgment. If you answer "not sure" to an item, describe the additional information you would like to have before making a choice. 1. Researchers state, "Smokers (defined as individuals smoking 10 or more cigarettes per day) were approached...
Using C programming For this project, you have been tasked to read a text file with student grades and perform several operations with them. First, you must read the file, loading the student records. Each record (line) contains the student’s identification number and then four of the student’s numerical test grades. Your application should find the average of the four grades and insert them into the same array as the id number and four grades. I suggest using a 5th...
Introduction - Problem-Solving Although everyone is confronted with problems, because leaders are connected to a larger system, problem solving can often have higher stakes for a group or organization. So, the ability to effectively solve problems is paramount for leaders. Effective problem solving has the opportunity to prevent damage, achieve a successful and productive outcome, refrain from negatively affecting others and in some cases positively affect others, and prevent a problem from reoccurring. Vignette Wendy is a part of the...
