Please give one example for the applications of (a) single crystal (b) poly crystal (c) amorphous silicon. If you try to grow silicon thin films using CVD method, what are the most critical parameters you need to control to grow silicon films with above different structures? If the silicon containing precursor flow rate is high, which structure will dominate?

Answer #1

(a) Solar cell is an example for application of single crystal as it is used as light absorbing material.

(b)Poly crystal silicon is used in conducting gate material in MOSFET.

(c) Amorphous silicon used for liquid crystal display as the material for thin film transistor.

temperature, applied voltage and pressure are the critical parameters to control when growing silicon thin film.

If silicon containing precursor flow rate is high then ploy crystal structure will dominate.

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
