Alkanes shows only one FTIR peak around 2900cm-1 that corresponds to C-H vibrations.

Alkenes have two FTIR peaks around 1600cm-1 and 3100cm-1 corresponding to C=C and =C-H vibrations.

Alkynes also have C Triple bond C stretching around 2100-2250cm-1 and triple bond C-H stretching vibrations around 3300cm-1.

Thus, by seeing the wavelengths of vibrations, you can differentiate between alkanes, alkenes and alkynes.
