Why isn’t toluene an alkane even though it only has carbons and hydrogens?
Alkane: It is a saturated hydrocarbon with sp3 hybridized carbon atoms and satisfies the CnH2n+2 formula.
Toluene: It is also saturated molecule (Due to Resonance) but contains sp2 hybridized carbon atoms in Benzene ring and sp3 carbon at methyl group.
Toluene is an Aromatic hydrocarbon where as Alkane is an Alipahatic hydrocarbon.
Chemical and Physical properties of Toluene are different from that of Alkane eventhough both are having only carbons and hydrogens. The main difference between them is Toluene is an Aromatic Hydrocarbon whereas Alkane is an Aliphatic hydrocarbon.
Why isn’t toluene an alkane even though it only has carbons and hydrogens?
Draw the structure of an alkane that has 5 or fewer carbons and 9 primary hydrogens.
How many hydrogens are in the following compounds? An alkane chain with 25 carbons An alkene chain with 32 carbons and 1 double bond A cycloalkane with 12 carbons An alkyne with 42 carbons and 1 triple bond
Draw the structure of the acyclic alkane(s) that have 8 carbons and only primary hydrogens. You do not have to consider stereochemistry. If more than one structure fits the description, draw them all. Draw one structure per sketcher. Add additional sketchers using the dropdown menu in the bottom right comer. Separate structures with + signs from the dropdown menu.
Could a privately held company benefit from using GAAP accounting, even though it isn’t legally required to do so? Why or why not?
2. If a hydrocarbon has 4 carbons, what is the first part of its name? 3. If a hydrocarbon has 7 carbons, what is the first part of its name? 4. If a hydrocarbon has 3 carbons, what is the first part of its name? 5. If an alkane has 1 carbon, how many hydrogens does it have? 6. If an alkane has 152 carbons, how many hydrogens does it have? 7. If an alkane has 27 carbons, how many...
Draw the structure of an alkane that has 3-6 carbons and does not have secondary or tertiary carbons.
Why does benzene have a much higher boiling point (80。c) than hexane (69。c), even though they have the same number of carbons? A) Benzene is much more polar than hexane which enhances the attractive forces between molecules and raises the boiling point. B) Benzene has fewer hydrogens than hexane. C) Benzene is planar and has delocalized electron density which increases the attractive forces between molecules and raises the boiling point. D) Benzene can covalently bond to another benzene molecule which...
Draw the structure of an alkane that has 6 or fewer carbons, 1 of which is secondary and 1 of which is tertiary
A hydrocarbon has 4 carbons. What is the minimum number of hydrogens the compound can have while still obeying the octet rule for all the carbons? Enter your answer as a number.
Why are 4 H+ needed for every ATP synthesized and exported by mitochondria, even though only 3 H+ need to be translocated by the ATP Synthase Complex to synthesize one ATP?
