Answer #1

This is because 15-watt compact fluorescent light bulb is more efficient in converting the electrical energy into light energy as compared to the 60 watt incandescent light bulb in which some amount of electrical energy is lost to heat. That is why 15-watt compact fluorescent light bulb can give same amount of light as by 60 watt incandescent light bulb.

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) have become required in recent years, but do they make financial sense? Suppose a typical 60-watt incandescent lightbulb costs $.38 and lasts for 1,000 hours. A 15-watt CFL, which provides the same light, costs $3.05 and lasts for 12,000 hours. A kilowatt-hour of electricity costs $0.114 which is about the national average. A kilowatt-hour is 1,000 watts for 1 hour. If you require a return of 9 percent and use a light fixture 500 hours per...

A 60W incandescent light bulb costs $0.25 and lasts 1 year. A compact fluorescent light (CFL) capable of producing the same amount of light costs $2, consumes 13W, and lasts 8 years. Assume electricity costs $0.10/kWh, the bulbs are operated for 5 hrs/day, and all money spent is taken out of a saving account earning 2% interest. A 15-W compact fluorescent light bulb is used in a lamp plugged into a 120-V wall socket. You can assume the lamp itself has zero resistance. Find (a) the resistance of the light bulb, (b) the maximum current through the bulb, and (c) the maximum power used by the light bulb. Also, if the frequency of the electricity is the typical household value of f = 60 Hz, what are the first two times that the current going through the...

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) have become required in recent years, but do they make financial sense? Suppose a typical 60-watt incandescent light bulb costs $.46 and lasts 1,000 hours. A 15-watt CFL, which provides the same light, costs $3.45 and lasts for 12,000 hours. A kilowatt-hour of electricity costs $.122, which is about the national average. A kilowatt-hour is 1,000 watts for 1 hour. If you require a return of 11 percent and use a light fixture 500 hours per...

"The price of compact fluorescent light bulbs fell because of improvements in production technology. As a result, the demand for incandescent light bulbs decreased. This caused the price of incandescent light bulbs to fall; as the price of incandescent light bulbs fell the demand for incandescent light bulbs decreased even further. Evaluate this statement. O A. The statement is false because compact fluorescent light bulbs producers would not reduce their prices as a result of improvements in technology, doing so...

Compact fluorescent bulbs are much more efficient at producing light than are ordinary incandescent bulbs. They initially cost much more, but last far longer and use much less electricity. According to one study of these bulbs, a compact bulb that produces as much light as a 100 W incandescent bulb uses only 23.0 W of power. The compact bulb lasts 1.00×104 hours, on the average, and costs $ 11.0 , whereas the incandescent bulb costs only 76.0 ¢, but lasts...

Enter your answer in the provided box. For similar light intensity, compact fluorescent bulbs use about 25% of the energy of incandescent bulbs. Let's say you replaced a bulb of 75 W with a fluorescent bulb and that your utility charges $0.15/kW-hour. How many dollars would you save in electricity in the 10,000-hour lifetime of the bulb? When fission of Uranium-235 is initiated by a neutron it can result in many different products. Fill in the correct Isotope to complete...
