Cost of acquiring information is more than the benefit one gets from the information, then one can predict that the information is not worth wasting time on.

The cost of the good might also reduce in future as the information gets passed on that the good is expensive and not worth the time spent on, thereby reducing the demand for it. Cheaper alternatives might come in place for the good whose information is easily available and whose cost is less.
