1) What is the critical velocity of the ball on the track as defined in this lab?

2) Why are there two types of kinetic energy for the ball on the loop?

3) What would be the velocity of a pendulum bob at its lowest point if it were released from a height of 0.1 cm?  Write the result in mks units.

4) Explain how to find the initial velocity of the projectile launched from the mini-launcher in exercise 4 and 5.

5) If the initial velocity of a vertically-launched projectile is 2.6 m/s, how high will it go? Calculate answer in mks units.

2) The two types of kinetic energy is translation and rotational Kinetic Energy

The translation Kinetic Energy is because if we take a point on the ball, that point is continously changing its position

The rotational Kinetic Energy is because the ball is moving continously moving but it remain at constant distance from its centre, but the angle is changing from 0 degree to 360 degree

3) If its release from a certain height, it only have potential energy, while on its lowestpostion it only have Kinetic Energy, if we neglect the effect of friction then,

Kinetic Energy = Potential Energy

1/2(mv2) mgh

v2=2gh

v2= 2* 9.8* (0.001) as height is in cm, so we have to change it in m

v2=0.14 m/s
