Your preliminary review shows that the financial investment would be considerable. What questions do you ask (of both the doctors and your staff) to decide whether to use a thorough SDLC or agile methods to develop the system? List and explain your questions.

Answer #1

The questions that I would ask the doctors and staff are

1) What is the problem that the expert system should solve - If they are clear in their though and expectations of the expert system, then SDLC can be a recommended mode other wise Agile is the preferred methodology if an iterative procedure is to be followed to finalize the expert system

2) What are the inputs and outputs of the system- Again if there is clarity here we can go for a traditional waterfall SDLC model other wise it is better to follow an Agile approach.

3) Do you see requirements for the system as fixed or evolving - In case of a fixed requirement, the SDLC approach is better otherwise Agile approach would be more suitable
