Answer #1

Answer: Tollens test and 2,4-DNP test is used to identify Aldehydes and ketone compounds.

2,4-DNP test is positive for both aldehydes and ketones.

Aldehydes are more reactive as compared to ketones, so they can be easily oxidised. So,Tollens test is easily shown positive by aldehydes as compared to ketones.

To identify the unknown compound, it is easy to make its hydrazone derivative by reacting the ketone with 2,4,-dinitrophenyl hydrazine .
