Here the question asks about the R,L and C circuit and the working of the circuit. In the question I will discuss about the necessary safety precautions that should be taken, the ignition system using RLC circuit and the values of R,L and C during the design of sinusoidal waveform using function generator.

1) Necessary safety precautions before connecting a parallel RLC circuit

  • Before making connections or during the changes done in the circuit make sure that all the devices are switched OFF and the Inductors and capacitors read zero value of current and voltages. Make sure that current source is switched OFF while making changes.
  • Avoid any loose connections of wires between the source and the R,L,C devices. Turn OFF the power after leaving lab.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by local safety rules and regulations, for example fire retardant coats, insulating gloves, remove jewellery and watch before working.

2) PROBLEMS THAT COULD OCCUR CAR IGNITION SYSTEM

  • Check battery power whether it is able to drive current which produces magnetic field in the spark plug. If battery power low replace it.
  • Check the spark plug if it clean or not. If presence of dirt and deposits clean it. Check for the pair of electrodes whether it is separated by proper air gap or presence of any dust is there.
  • Check the magnet across the pick-up coil and check for the quality of sparking. Also check the resistor value if proper sparking does not occur replace Resistor with a low value. After this step check the current through coil and the quality of spark. Replace Inductor with higher value if quality of spark is not there.
