The ionic strength of a solution is a measure of the concentration of ions in that solution.Ionic compounds, when dissolved in water, dissociate into ions.The concentration depends upon the pH value. In the case of strong acids or base, ions immediately dissociates in solution with strong positive ions and strong negative ions.Where as in the case of weak acid or base, only partially dissociated in the range of pH.

The standard addition method is a type of quantitative analysis approach used in analytical chemistry.By this we can calculate the concentrtion of an unknown ion by adding a known sample.Increasing the addition of volume, contributes the analytical signal. Procedure containing the same amount of unknown, but different amounts of standard or known. Then the known is added in differing amounts, such as 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 ml. The total concentration of the ions is the sum of the unknown and the standard, and that the total concentration varies linearly.
